Sick of buying almonds and they go stale before you finish them? Keep your almonds fresh in the freezer!
Nuts are great for protein, healthy fats, fibre and a range of vitamins and minerals but when they go soft or stale it doesn’t matter how much nutrition punch they have I wont eat them. I was reading in my local newspaper about Riverland almonds in South Australia and how they are the ‘best in the world’ the gentleman interviewed says. His suggestion was never keep nuts in a jar in the pantry,
there is air in the jar and they will go stale, so true! Keep them fresh by putting them in the freezer. Almonds don’t have moisture, only oil so they don’t freeze. Take them out of the freezer for 5minutes before eating. I will see if this keeps all my nuts fresh!
Almonds are a great source of monounsaturated fat like other nuts, olive oil and avocados. They also contain vitamin E a powerful antioxidant. The recommend serving size for most of us per day is 30grams. Tell the kids there is a great snack, fresh straight from the freezer…………. That might look for a different snack in the freezer but it is all about balance!
